Rare Antique Chinese Carved Wood and Cloth Door Of Hope Mission Child Boy Doll

This is a very rare, seldom seen Antique, Door of Hope Mission Child Doll. According to Dolls Magazine - "These dolls made at the Door of Hope Mission in Shanghai, China, have captured the interest of doll collectors and sought after through the years. The Door of Hope Mission opened in 1901 and made only a period of time. Dolls were dressed in traditional costumes of the Chinese people at that time. The doll's heads were carved of Pear Wood by local carvers and crafts people. No two exactly alike. The costumes were made by hand."
This Door of Hope doll is dressed as a young Chinese child, and he has been in my personal collection for 31 years. I am thinning out my collection. My ex husband and I purchased this doll at the Sotheby's Auction in London, England on November 8 and 9, 1989, from the collection of the late Mrs. Marianne Bodmer. I took photos of the catalog for your information and for your records if you purchased this doll. The Sotheby's Catalog is not for sale. I sold three of the Door of Hope dolls, and I have the other 2 dolls in my collection. This one for sale, is the last child doll on the right side of the photo from the catalog. I have visited 100 countries, the 7 continents of the world and I have many eclectic, beautiful doll collections and other collectibles. This Door of Hope doll is in good to very good condition. Please look at all the photos carefully for details and part of descriptions. I took photos with close ups of his wooden face so you could see the details and condition of his head. He has a beautiful expression on his face, all carved wood. There is a stain above his right eyebrow and and middle upper left forehead, which I was told can be professionally cleaned but I never tried to clean it and left it as is condition, but does not take away the beauty and uniqueness of his rare and exquiste fac. He has a silk brocade light pink top jacket that is faded to cream color, his pants are very light blue brocade material. The black shoes are in very good condition. The brocade outfit is in good to very good condition. Outfit shows age but is intact. All the clothing, top jacket, pants and black shoes were all handmade beautifully. This child boy doll is absolutely a beautiful example of this rare Door of Hope Doll. His hair is painted black to the top and at the bottom of the back of his head, there is a small opening for the very fine long hair attached to it. He is 9 inches tall.
