Rare Antique Chinese Wood Cloth Door of Hope Mission Woman Doll Mother

This is a very rare, seldom seen Antique, Door of Hope Mission Woman Mother Doll. According to Dolls Magazine - "These dolls made at the Door of Hope Mission in Shanghai, China, have captured the interest of doll collectors and sought after through the years. The Door of Hope Mission opened in 1901 and made only a period of time. Dolls were dressed in traditional costumes of the Chinese people at that time. The doll's heads were carved of Pear Wood by local carvers and crafts people. No two exactly alike. The costumes were made by hand."
This Door of Hope doll is dressed as a Chinese woman - Mother with two children, and she has been in my personal collection for 31 years. I am thinning out my collection. My ex husband and I purchased this doll at the Sotheby's Auction in London, England on November 8 and 9, 1989, from the collection of the late Mrs. Marianne Bodmer. I took photos of the catalog for your information and for your records only, if you purchased this doll. The Sotheby's Catalog is not for sale. I sold three of the Door of Hope dolls, and I have the last one small toddler doll in my collection. I have another boy doll for sale in my other ebay auction. This one for sale, is the woman mother doll on the very left side of the photo from the catalog. I have visited 100 countries, the 7 continents of the world and I have many eclectic, beautiful doll collections and other collectibles. This Door of Hope doll is in good to very good condition. Please look at all the photos carefully for details and part of descriptions. I took photos with close ups of her wooden face so you could see the details and condition of her head. She has a beautiful expression on her face, all carved wood. There are some stains on her upper right cheek, above her middle left forehead and middle of nose, (there are small chips on her nose) which I am not sure if it can be professionally cleaned or restored but I never tried to clean it and left it as is condition, but does not take away the beauty and uniqueness of her rare and exquisite face. She has a silk pink top Chinese blouse/jacket that is faded in front, her pants are darker pink with bottom brocade material. The dark pink embroidered shoes are beautiful, the right bottom front part is coming off otherwise they are in very good to excellent condition. The pink blouse top is in good to very good condition. All hand sewn.  Outfit shows age but is intact, faded in front. All the clothing, top blouse, pants and dark pink embroidered shoes were all handmade beautifully. This rare woman mother doll is absolutely a beautiful example of this rare Door of Hope Doll. Her hair is painted black to the top and at the bottom of the back of his head, what is the most unique is that her hair is in a bun and and surrounding the hair bun is a fabulous colored carved design ornate head band. Please see photos.  Her neck and head are all hand carved wood and her body is all white cloth in very good condition. I did not take off her clothes so I did not see all the condition of the cloth body but from the upper torse, foot and arms looks in very good to excellent condition, She has no hands/finger, no foot, toes .
