RARE pair of antique VICTORY Defense twin soap baby dolls in basket w/provenance

Very unusual
,
circa 1940,
pair of
twin soap baby dolls
in their original, 6 1/2" long, blue and white straw basket tied with the original wide blue satin ribbon and pink card that reads as follows:
"Dear Friend, I saw your face so kind, And thought you really wouldn't mind, If I left my babies outside your door, Oh, keep them, I implore! Their mother please do not condemn, For her seeming negligence. She's busy working all day long~~

What a great memento from a long forgotten time. The sweet babies are each about 4" long, wearing tiny ruffled bonnets each with
her hand in her mouth, with side-glancing eyes and are beautifully molded with lots of chubby rolls and dimples. Such a sweet item in excellent condition. How can you resist their cute little faces?
