    Description

This elegant doll comes from an estate collection that spans four generations.
She is a Black cloth doll carrying a beaded bag.  Her face is carefully embroidered faces and she is elegantly dressed with an embroidered organdy apron over a blue and white gingham dress. Her jewelry - necklace, earrings, and bracelets - add to the details, and her bright red head wrap adds the perfect final touch. She is a half doll with no legs. The  skirt is lined with brown paper over newspaper which is printed in Spanish. She may be from a Hispanic country. The lucky buyer of this doll may want to look further to see if there is a source or date on the newspaper.
This doll has been carefully stored for many years. It may have minor damage consistent with age. Please review all photos as an important part of the description.
Here is some information on the provenance of the collection which may help with the age and source of the dolls. Great grandmother "Noni" was born in Scotland in the 1860's, attended the University of California at Berkeley in the 1880's, went to Europe to study for a time, and then married and returned to Princeton, New Jersey. Her sister and brother were both missionaries in China and India, and when Noni visited them she brought back souvenir dolls. Others in the family also traveled, so there is a wide variety of unusual dolls in the collection. Noni died in 1953, so we expect all dolls date prior to the early 1950's, and some are much older. The dolls were finally inherited by the great granddaughter who was born in 1947, and are offered now for your consideration.
Offered by Fran's Doll Care and Repair, where "Every Doll is Special."
